LETTER COPY
Dear Senator or Representative: NAME
My name is BLANK and I am a constituent living at ADDRESS.
I am writing because I am concerned about new Rules that the MN Dept of Natural
Resources are considering that would functionally prohibit foraging of mushrooms in our State Parks and State Recreation Areas and perhaps other state land.
(PARAGRAPH ON WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU)
I am asking you to contact the DNR and request that a meeting be convened between the DNR, and invested stakeholders, regarding this use of public land with the Governor’s office and any lawmakers that would like to attend. Losing access to state parks for Minnesotans to forage would be devastating to Minnesotans who don’t have the privilege of being landowners.
Foraging is an outdoor pursuit that has been enjoyed by generations of Minnesotans and the DNR should not be making these critical decisions without input from lawmakers and organizations like MMS.
I look forward to a response from you.
Thank you,
