Here’s the latest from my video series with Chris Bohnhoff and team.
For a couple years now we’ve been chatting back and forth with a local broadcast company about the possibility of doing a show and what sort of form it would take. There’s lots of questions with things like that though: Who pays for the production team? Whats the budget? What are the episodes and how long are they? Are there guests, if so who? What will you cook? Where? Where are the locations and how do we ensure there are things growing to film? Should we film things being cooked in the kitchen to give us more flexibility in what I make or should we focus on the purity of outdoor cooking over fire as we have in the past?
Last year Chris and the production team started to get serious about the project and it’s visual form, working with a local music artist and a photographer friend of Chris’s who does really cool things with motion graphics. The result is a trailer/proof of concept we’ve started to share online to help the project gain awareness. It gives a great feel for the ambiance we want, and the style of shooting Chris and team will use.
I’ve been rounding up friends of mine that I know in the restaurant industry as well as the mushroom hunting and foraging community. It’s really exciting to think about the possibility of sharing the thrill of going to friend’s secret patches, talking about ethical harvesting, bantering around with chef’s in the woods and most of all, cooking all kinds of fun stuff.
We’re planning to start shooting this year, with the goal of a 2018 premier, so keep your fingers crossed, but most of all, enjoy the trailer.
